Grant Grover provides individualized education
and therapeutic Day Treatment services to 25 elementary
and middle school children from 5 to 14 years of age
from the Marin County community. A special education
school, Grant Grover specializes in psycho-therapeutic
treatment, helping children who cannot complete academic
and social activities in public schools because of acute
mental disorders ranging from depression to bipolar
and post traumatic stress disorders. Treatment teams
include milieu counselors, therapists and teachers who
lead students through sessions designed to foster expression
and build socialization skills and self-esteem. A client's
treatment plan also includes strategy sessions with
family members to ensure consistent treatment at home.
Mainstreaming to a public school is the ultimate goal
for a Grant Grover student. This program is operated
in collaboration with the Marin County Departments of
Education and Mental Health.
